The hospice has won a £1,000 Movement for Good award thanks to nominations from the public.
We were nominated to win a £1,000 boost as part of specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards, which is giving £1 million to charities this summer.
The donation will help the hospice provide specialist care for people affected by a life-limiting illness, including cancer, motor neurone disease and heart disease.
Janet O’Hara, grants, trusts and legacies fundraiser at the hospice, said: “We are delighted to receive a donation from this initiative, which will directly benefit the patients we look after.
“We’d like to thank Ecclesiastical and all those who took the time to nominate us. Without donations like this, we would not be able to provide the vital care and support we do for the people of Barnsley.”
Members of the public were invited to nominate causes close to their hearts, with 500 gifts of £1,000 available. The hospice was one of more than 7,000 charities which was nominated by 98,000 members of the public to be in with a chance of winning a financial boost.

We know that £1,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work that charities do and we’re looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better.”
