Barnsley Hospice launches farming fundraiser with Cannon Hall TV stars

16 June 2026

Barnsley Hospice is holding a brand-new farming-focused event to raise vital funds to continue its services.

‘Farmers & Friends’ will take place at the Holiday Inn Barnsley on Saturday 10 October 2026, and attendees can enjoy a delicious Afternoon Tea and hear from special guests, Cannon Hall Farmers, Rob and David.

The Nicholson brothers have quite literally grown up around farming, after Cannon Hall Farm was purchased by their grandfather nearly seven decades ago. Since then, the farm has grown and evolved into the iconic tourist attraction it is today. The pair have also become familiar faces as champion livestock breeders and stars of hit shows such as Springtime on the Farm, Cannon Hall: A Yorkshire Farm and The Yorkshire Vet.

Speaking about the event, Rob Nicholson shared: “Supporting Barnsley Hospice means the world to us. The care and compassion they’ve shown to so many families in our community over the last 30 years is truly humbling, and we’re honoured to help out in even a small way. We hope you’ll join us for a wonderful afternoon – great food and even better company.”

All profits from the ‘Farmers & Friends’ event, will go towards supporting Barnsley Hospice and the specialist palliative and end of life care it provides to those living with a life-limiting illness. Last year, the hospice cared for over 500 people across its range of services.

Julia Radwell, Events Fundraiser at Barnsley Hospice, said: “We are over the moon to have Rob and David joining us for the event and helping to support our care. Cannon Hall Farm is such an iconic part of Barnsley, and together we’ll be able to make a real difference to local families when they need it most.”

“The brothers are truly at the heart of the farm, and we can’t wait for them to share more about their upbringing, family history and what day-to-day life looks like on the farm.”

The event is kindly being sponsored by Vertu Toyota Barnsley and J Willey & Co Insurance.

Claire Philbin, Director at J Willey & Co Ltd, shares: “We are incredibly proud to sponsor Barnsley Hospice, a charity that is truly close to our hearts here at J Willey & Co Insurance. The hospice makes a profound difference to so many people and their families when they need it most, and having personally experienced their outstanding services and support, it is our absolute pleasure to give something back to such a worthwhile charity.”

Tickets to the event cost £40 per person – including a welcome drink and Afternoon Tea – and can be purchased by visiting www.barnsleyhospice.org/farmers-friends or calling the hospice’s Fundraising Team on 01226 244 244.
