New home for the Barnsley Hospice Retail Hub

The Barnsley Hospice Retail Hub is officially moving after nearly six fantastic years based at Unit 16 on the Fall Bank Industrial Estate, Dodworth. But for those regular visitors, there is no need to worry, as the new retail space will be located just down the road at Unit 1 on the same industrial park in Dodworth. 

The new premises will provide an improved experience for those shopping or donating items, and will offer a more cost-effective, sustainable home for the hospice’s Retail Hub.  

Since the Barnsley Hospice Retail Hub opened its doors in December 2020, it has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the hospice through sales of donated goods whilst preventing thousands of tonnes of clothes and items from ending up in landfill. 

Ross Fletcher, CEO/Chief Nurse at Barnsley Hospice said: “Barnsley Hospice is for the community and our services are funded by the community. By shopping or donating at our Retail Hub, you are helping to make our care possible. 

“We want our hospice to be here for many years to come, but the reality is that to make this possible, we are constantly striving to find new and improved ways to generate income.  

“The new premises mark an exciting new chapter for our Retail Hub, and every item bought or donated helps the hospice to support local families at some of their most difficult times. 

“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported our Retail Hub whilst we have been based at Unit 16, and we look forward to welcoming you at our new location.” 

The Barnsley Hospice Retail Hub will continue to provide a stylish and affordable range of pre-loved items, including clothing homeware, books and furniture. Customers can shop and donate all at the same unit, making this ‘one-stop-shop’ an easy and sustainable way to support Barnsley Hospice.  

As well as moving home to a new unit, The Retail Hub – which was crowned the Charity Retail Association’s ‘Charity Retail Shop of the Year’ for Yorkshire and the Humber last year – will now be opening seven days a week.  

To celebrate the new retail premises, a launch party will be held at the Barnsley Hospice Retail Hub on Friday 11 September. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.
