Jennifer Featherstone joined Barnsley Hospice as Director of Clinical Services and Governance in October 2025.
Jennifer is a qualified registered nurse and has a proven senior clinical and operational leadership record of accomplishment, with a combination of 26 years working in both the NHS and within the private independent sector, including significant experience of working strategically at senior level in both acute and community healthcare settings. Coupled with continued professional development having completed highly acclaimed Elizabeth Anderson Master’s in Leadership in Healthcare via the NHS Leadership Academy.
Jennifer’s nursing career first commenced at King’s College London, then at Great Ormond Street working with children with life-limiting complex healthcare needs, after which Jennifer re-located to West Yorkshire.
To date Jennifer has had a successful and progressive career, often working with other agencies and organisations including a wide range of regulatory organisations in relation to monitoring and driving compliance, and has supported previous organisations to achieve a wealth of recognised national accreditations.
Throughout Jennifer’s nursing career this has incorporated leading on organisational Safeguarding agenda, she has advance training in Safeguarding children and adults, and is the Executive Lead for Safeguarding at Barnsley Hospice.
Jennifer is passionate about patient safety, and brings to this role a wealth of transferrable knowledge and experience of infection prevention, driving clinical governance framework agenda and excellence, patient experience and satisfaction, quality improvement and assurance and is focused in the delivery of safe, effective and personalised patient care.
Outside of work, Jennifer participates in regular yoga classes, and is an active member of the local choir, but above all loves spending time with her husband and three children, and taking their dog on long walks and new adventures.
