February is Make a Will Month for Barnsley Hospice

Save money, write your Will and support us!

Throughout February 2020, several local solicitors are kindly giving you the opportunity to save money by having your Will written in exchange for a donation to Barnsley Hospice.

Participating in Make a Will Month enables you to enjoy great value for money whilst supporting patient care at the Hospice. It sounds too good to be true, but there really are no catches!

Bookings for Make a Will Month are being taken from 2 January onwards.

How much will it cost?

The participating solicitors give their services for free. Instead of charging you, they ask you to make a donation to Barnsley Hospice, which they take during your appointment and pass on to us.

Our suggested minimum donations are:
  • £90 for a single Will
  • £175 for a pair of Mirror Wills

These minimum donations represent a significant average saving of £60*

You do not have to leave the Hospice a gift in your Will to benefit from these savings. Your donation to the Hospice instead of a fee will still help us to care for patients and families in Barnsley. However, we would be extremely grateful if you could consider remembering the Hospice in your Will.

Make a Will and make sure your wishes are carried out...

Life can change quickly and it is important to make a Will if your circumstances change, for example:
• Becoming a grandparent
• Getting married, divorced or co-habiting
• Having a baby
• Buying a house
• Welcoming stepchildren

Making a Will is the only way you can be sure that your wishes are carried out and your loved ones are provided for after your death. It can be much more affordable and straightforward than you think.

Julie Watts took part in Make a Will 2019
"I’d realised that making my Will was something I had
to do before it was too late and the Hospice’s Make a
Will Month fundraiser was the ideal opportunity to do
that. I work in the Hospice’s Inpatient Unit and know
that people’s donations and generosity are vital in
helping us care for patients, so this is my own small
contribution towards this."

How it works

Choose a solicitor from the list
Contact them directly and make your appointment for any
time in February (numbers are limited, so book quickly!)

Make your donation during your appointment and support the specialist care provided by the Hospice.

*Average saving is £60 for a single Will or a pair of Mirror Wills.  Savings are based on a survey of 11 Barnsley solicitors in November 2018.
Please note that if your Will is deemed 'complex' or involves tax or other specialist advice, a fee for any additional work will be agreed in advance with the solicitor.
