Wortley Beer Festival raises thousands for hospice
Last weekend, hundreds of people attended the Wortley Beer Festival to enjoy local beer and music, whilst raising vital funds for Barnsley Hospice. The total raised from the three-day event has reached an incredible £2,500.
Since 2015, Wortley Men’s Club, the organisers of the festival, have chosen to donate the proceeds from the weekend to support the palliative and end of life care Barnsley Hospice provides for the local area.
The festival has raised over £20,000 for the hospice over the past seven years, and the event has firmly cemented itself as a local favourite.
This year’s festival was opened by Lady Rowena, who officially pulled the first pint.
Vicky Stead, Community Fundraiser at Barnsley Hospice thanked the organisers of the event, “We are incredibly grateful that the festival organisers continue to choose to support the hospice and to everyone involved in making the event a success.
“It really would not be possible to provide the care and support we do without our wonderful local community.”
