B&Q customers build up four-figure sum for hospice

Barnsley Hospice has received a donation of over £3,000 from B&Q’s Cortonwood store in Brampton.

Staff and customers raised the money through in-store fundraising and collection days, to help us continue to provide specialist care for people affected by life-limiting illnesses.

Sam Silverwood, fundraising manager at Barnsley Hospice, said: “We’re hugely grateful to B&Q for their generous donation, which will help us to provide vital care for our patients and their families. We rely heavily on donations from the local community to help us keep our doors open and we’d like to say a big thank you to staff and customers at B&Q for their hard work to raise this money.”

Katie Simmons, charity champion at B&Q Cortonwood, said: “We’re so pleased with the £3,050 we managed to raise. Barnsley Hospice is such an important part of the Barnsley community so we wanted to do our bit to help them. We couldn’t have raised this money without our customers, so we’d like to thank them too for their fantastic support.”
