Make a Will Month

What is Make a Will Month?

Take part in Make a Will Month and get your Will professionally written in exchange for a donation to Barnsley Hospice. Throughout September, participating local solicitors will generously waive their usual Will writing fees, helping us to continue providing specialist palliative and end of life care for the people of Barnsley.

Why write a Will?

At the hospice, we understand the importance of making your wishes known and putting things in place for your loved ones at every stage of life and making a Will can be a good way to do this.

How much does it cost?

If you get your Will written as part of Make a Will Month, you can create a Simple Will for a suggested minimum donation of £100, or £180 for a pair of Mirror Wills.

Please note: If your Will is deemed more complex, additional fees may incur. Your solicitor will explain any additional costs during your initial appointment. There is no obligation to leave a gift in your Will as part of Make a Will Month.

Step 2: Attend your initial appointment & make your donation

Once you have booked your appointment, you will meet with your confirmed solicitor to discuss your wishes and begin drafting your Will. Following this initial meeting, simply make your donation to Barnsley Hospice which will help support the specialist palliative and end of life care we provide to the local community of Barnsley.

Donations can be made online, via the Barnsley Hospice website.

Step 3: We will confirm your donation and your solicitor will start drafting your Will.

Once you have made your donation, sit back while your solicitor begins drafting your Will.

Once your Will has been drafted, your solicitor will get in touch to arrange a time for you to review and sign the Will. They will guide you through the process, answer any last questions and make sure everything is in line with your wishes.

Step 4: Relax knowing you’ve helped make a difference!

Once your Will is signed, you can relax knowing you have taken care of those close to you, all while supporting your local hospice and the outstanding care we provide to local families.
