More than £17k raised by Accumulator Challenge!

Barnsley Hospice’s most innovative annual fundraising event saw 20 local businesses collectively raise more than £17,000 throughout March.
Each year, Corporate Partnership Manager at the hospice, Simon Atkinson, adopts the alias of Lord Sweetener and recruits local businesses to turn a £30 ‘loan’ into as much money as possible throughout the month of March.
From work-placed bake sales, fancy dress, colour runs, Mario Kart racing and many more inventive and whacky fundraising ideas, staff members went above and beyond to raise vital funds for Barnsley Hospice’s services.
Corporate Partnership Manager, Simon Atkinson, said: “Yet again after another year of wonderful and whacky fundraising, our Accumulator Challenge has gone from strength to strength in terms of its popularity and innovation. We’ve seen so many creative and generous businesses take part which never ceases to amaze us at the hospice – which relies on their efforts to keep our services running.
“The Accumulator Challenge is all about being as creative and inventive as possible and, most importantly, having fun whilst at work or with their friends and family. Every team has done themselves proud and we can’t thank them all enough, including their wonderful customers and supporters, for ensuring our care continues for the people of Barnsley and those close to them.”
Participants in the Accumulator Challenge celebrated their achievements at a special awards ceremony at Barnsley Hospice, where the grand total of £17,304.62 was unveiled and winners of the biggest fundraiser and most innovative idea were announced.
Simon continued, “It might sound a bit cheesy but honestly speaking, everybody who took part was a winner, and we are so grateful everybody worked hard to raise as much money for the palliative and end of life services we provide. Thank you to everybody from the bottom of our hearts.”
