Make a Will Month April 2026

Make a Will Month is our annual campaign where we team up with local solicitors to offer you the chance to have a professionally written Will for a donation to Barnsley Hospice. During this time, participating solicitors generously waive their usual fees, meaning every penny you donate goes directly to Barnsley Hospice, helping us continue providing specialist palliative and end of life care for people and families across our local community.

Why write a Will?

At the hospice, we understand the important of knowing that your wishes are clearly set out and the people you care about are provided for. An up-to-date Will ensures your money, property and possessions are passed on exactly as you intend. It can also ease the burden on your beneficiaries during a difficult time.

How much does it cost?

Taking part in Make a Will Month allows you to have a professionally written Will at a significantly reduced cost. During our campaign, you can create a Simple Will for a suggested minimum donation of £120, or a Mirror Will for £200 – both offering amazing value while supporting local hospice care.

Please note: While these donations cover most Wills, more complex requirements may incur additional fees. Your solicitor will explain any additional costs during your initial appointment, Barnsley Hospice will only recieve the suggested minimum donation, not additional charges.

How do I get involved?

Getting involved in Make a Will Month couldn’t be easier, its as simply as four steps!

Step 1: Choose your solicitor and book your appointment

Choose a solicitor from the provided Solicitor list and book your ‘Make a Will Month’ appointment.

Please note: All Make a Will Month appointments must be completed during the month of April.

Participating Solicitors

Our thanks go to the following solicitors for so generously donating their legal services to support the hospice and people of Barnsley.

Solicitors taking part in Make a Will Month will begin opening their appointments from 2 February 2026.

Step 2: Attend your initial appointment & make your donation

Once you’ve booked your appointment, you’ll meet with your chosen solicitor to discuss your wishes and begin drafting your Will. Following this initial meeting, you’ll need to make your donation to Barnsley Hospice in exchange for the solicitor waiving their fees.

You can make your donation in one of two ways:

  • Online, via the Barnsley Hospice website
  • Using a donation envelope provided by your solicitor

Step 3: Relax while we confirm your donation and your Will is drafted

Once you’ve made your donation, there’s nothing more for you to do right away. We’ll get in touch directly with your chosen solicitor to confirm that your donation has been received.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue providing compassionate, specialist care to people and families across Barnsley!

Please note: your solicitor won’t begin drafting your Will until this confirmation is in place, so it’s important to make your donation promptly to avoid any delays.

Step 4: Signing of your Will

Once your Will has been drafted, your solicitor will get in touch to arrange a time for you to review and sign the final document. They’ll guide you through the process, answer any last questions and make sure everything is legally valid and in line with your wishes.

After signing, you can relax with the peace of mind that your affairs are in order, your loved ones are provided for and if you’ve chosen to leave a gift to Barnsley Hospice you’re helping to make a lasting difference for future generations in our community.
