What is a Body Scan? 

A ‘body scan’ is a mindfulness technique which involves paying attention to each part of the body and focusing on the feelings present, whether tension, warmth or discomfort, without judgement.

How does it help? 

By bringing your attention to the body, this can help reduce stress, tension or anxiety you may be feeling. 

How often should I do it? 

You can use the body scan technique as often as you need. You can also vary how long the body scan last. For example, you may wish to complete a quick scan in a moment of stress or tension, or sit for a longer body scan at the end of the day. To get the most from the body scan, ensure you are in a quiet space before starting the scan where you will not be disturbed for at least five minutes.
