Christmas Appeal 2026

Donate today and make a difference to Barnsley families this Christmas

At Barnsley Hospice, we believe every moment matters. This Christmas, your kindness can help ensure that local people living with a life-limiting illness, and those closest to them, receive the support they need when it matters most. Every donation helps us provide specialist care, comfort, and precious moments for families across Barnsley, creating memories that will be treasured long after the festive season has passed. “Christmas can be hard, but the hospice helps get me into the spirit and uplifts me. They support my family too, and my sister joins sessions regularly, and my late partner also used to come with me. The hospice recognises that serious illness affects the whole family, giving our loved ones a vital space to find their own support and comfort.

“This time of year is about making memories and spending time with loved ones, and the hospice helps me to do that. Inside those walls, we support each other through the darkest days, but we also share an incredible amount of joy. If you walked past our room, you wouldn’t hear crying – you would hear waves of laughter.”

Why Christmas matters at the hospice

“While many people are spending Christmas at home with loved ones, some of our incredible team will be here at the hospice, just as they are every other day, providing outstanding care to patients. On the ward, we see families making the most of every precious moment together, creating memories that will be treasured forever. We are privileged to play a small part in this, helping to make this time as comfortable and meaningful as we can. None of this would be possible without the generosity of those who support Barnsley Hospice.” – Mel, Ward Manager
