Barnsley Hospice is seeking a motivated and compassionate Bank Retail Driver to join our Retail Team.
About the Role
Provide a reliable driving and maintenance service supporting retail operations across a 5 out of 7-day schedule. Responsibilities include collecting and delivering furniture, assisting within the Donation Centre, and supporting wider retail needs as required. The role also involves working closely with the Sales Lead to help maximise store sales.
Driving & Customer Service: Operate Hospice vehicles for collections, deliveries, and banking; maintain vehicles (e.g. checks on tyres, oil), report incidents, and represent the Hospice professionally when dealing with the public.
Retail & Operational Support: Assist with general retail driving duties, support retail outlets and the Donation Centre as needed, including helping customers, moving and sorting stock, and working with contractors. Contribute ideas to maximise sales and income opportunities.
Maintenance & Upkeep: Carry out general maintenance across retail premises, including painting, minor repairs (e.g. basic electrical tasks within training), and occasional small structural work. Prioritise tasks with the Retail Operations Manager.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain safe, clean, and organised premises, including outdoor areas and maintenance stores, in line with health and safety requirements.
Organisation summary
Barnsley Hospice is a charity that provides specialist palliative and end of life care to hundreds of local people and those close to them each year. Our main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for people living with a life-limiting illness, whilst supporting those close to them during the period of illness and bereavement. As a specialist care provider, the range of skills we offer include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and end of life care. The hospice currently employs about 100 people and has a team of volunteers, based both at the hospice and within our Retail Hub.
