Treecycle raises almost £10,000 for Barnsley Hospice

Barnsley Hospice’s Christmas ‘Treecycle’ fundraiser has raised almost £10,000 for what is a record-breaking year.

More than 600 trees were collected across Barnsley, as the public booked their Christmas tree to be collected for a suggested minimum donation of £15, with £9,953 being raised.

Simon Atkinson, Corporate Partnership Manager at Barnsley Hospice, said: “Every year we say that the most recent Treecycle was our biggest and best yet, but this certainly was! From raising £2,359 from 200 trees four years ago, this year collected a staggering 623 Christmas trees and our wonderful supporters donated £9,953 which is incredible.

“Each and every donation means that we can continue delivering outstanding hospice care to people who need us here in Barnsley. Thank you to everyone who booked in.

“Of course our Treecycle fundraiser wouldn’t be possible without our team of fantastic corporate supporters, who facilitated the collecting and recycling of Christmas trees, meaning they were repurposed for horticultural use. I’d like to thank you all on behalf of everybody who accesses our services. Your generosity, kindness and expertise is hugely appreciated.”

Thank you to our incredible partners and local organisations, who gave their time, skills and energy (in the freezing cold!) to make it all happen:
