Access at-home relaxation and self-care videos

Barnsley Hospice is proud to share a range of online relaxation and self-care technique videos which can be accessed at home or out and about. The videos feature Barnsley Hospice staff who deliver these techniques to patients and service users every day.

Created thanks to a grant from the South Yorkshire Cancer Alliance, the videos aim to support those living with Cancer in South Yorkshire by increasing self-care and self-awareness, and regulating the mind, breath and body.

Body Scan – involves paying attention to each part of the body and focusing on the feelings which are present.

Guided Visualisation – a mindfulness technique which encourages you to use each of your five senses to create an image or journey in your mind.

Tai Chi – an ancient form of martial arts involving gentle, low-impact flowing movements while focusing on posture and breathing.

Qi Gong – combines good posture and deep breathing with movement to improve mind-body connection and enhance health and wellbeing.

These techniques can support with lowering stress, tension and anxiety, and the more physical practices, Tai Chi and Qi Gong, can also help improve balance and mobility.
