‘Bake’ a Difference for Barnsley Hospice this Summer
Barnsley Hospice is calling on the community to put on their aprons this summer and ‘bake’ a difference in support of the hospice’s services.
The Big Barnsley Bake Off, which will run throughout August, is the town’s chance to show its support for the hospice, which provides specialist palliative and end of life care to the people of Barnsley and their loved ones. As a charity, the hospice relies on the generosity of local people to fundraise around two-thirds of its income every year to sustain its services.
You could hold a bake sale at home with friends and family, at work with colleagues or in the local community. You can also add an element of competition to your event and go full ‘bake off’ style by crowning a winner. It’s a simple and fun way of joining together and raising much-needed funds for a local charity.
To help make your event a success, the hospice has created a free fundraising pack which contains everything you need – minus the cake! It includes posters, decorations, cake toppers, and fundraising games, as well as recipes from the hospice’s catering team and Barnsley broadcaster, Sam Nixon.
Vicky Stead, Community Relationships Manager at Barnsley Hospice, said: “We’re asking the people of Barnsley to bake something yummy and raise some money by joining the Big Barnsley Bake Off this Summer. Hosting a bake sale is always a popular fundraiser, whether at work or home, and we’re pleased to share this pack to make it even easier for those wanting to make a difference.
“We’re proud to deliver our services free of charge, but this is only possible thanks to the kindness and generosity of our community. I hope our supporters can spare just a few hours
this Summer to do something fun, which will make a big difference to local families when they need it most.”
