Barnsley Hospice is excited to launch its new mobile coffee cart which aims to raise funds for its services.
As part of its existing relationship with Barnsley Council Bereavement Services, the coffee cart will have a predominant base at Barnsley Crematorium in Ardsley throughout the week (Monday to Friday).
Customers will be able to buy a range of hot drinks, specially-made by a barista, including coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as small snacks and sweet treats.
Anthony Davenport, Head of BEST (Bereavement, Environment, Sport & Travel Assistance) at Barnsley Council, said: “Most crematoriums in South Yorkshire and beyond have somewhere to grab a drink before or after a service, which can be a welcome option for people who might have a long way to travel when attending a funeral. We were delighted to be able to provide Barnsley Hospice’s coffee cart a home throughout the week, which not only offers a great option to provide refreshments to people coming to the crematorium, but helps raise funds for such a brilliant cause, too.
“After a successful trial period, during which we received lots of positive feedback from people, we are delighted to continue having the hospice’s coffee cart at the crematorium.”
Julia Bowness, Head of Business Development at Barnsley Hospice, said: “We are so excited to launch our new coffee cart which will hopefully generate much-needed funds for our services but also give Barnsley Hospice a presence across the town and raise awareness of the services we provide for the community.
“We’re so grateful to Barnsley Council Bereavement Services, who have already been generous with their recent donations to the hospice through the recycling of metals scheme, for providing us with a place to serve up our delicious beverages and help raise much-needed funds.
“Revenue generation for Barnsley Hospice is vital, as we must raise two-thirds of our operational costs through fundraising, so we are always looking at innovative ways to raise funds. Our new coffee cart is a really exciting new business which we hope will be enjoyed by the Barnsley.”
