A message for Carers Week 2021

Carers Week (June 7th – 13th) is an annual campaign that began 27 years ago, to help raise awareness of the vital support that unpaid carers provide. At present there are over 6.5 million carers in the UK alone; many of whom do not receive the support they need.

At the hospice, we recognise the difficulties many carers face and extend our support to all those caring for a loved one, as well as our patients.

Our lead counsellor Janice Blackburn says: “For many, becoming a carer is not something that we expect. Caring for a loved one can be an incredibly rewarding experience, but can also present many challenges and we are here to help offering support to both our patients and to their families.

“We are proud to be raising awareness of the brilliant work of carers throughout Carers Week, and in the work we do every day going forwards.”

Barnsley Hospice provides specialist, compassionate end of life care and support for patients, their families and loved ones.
