Mayor launches Rainbow of Ribbons at Barnsley Town Hall

A rainbow of ribbons to remember lost loved ones has been launched by Barnsley’s new Mayor at the Town Hall.

Cllr Steve Green, who became Mayor in May, attached the first dedication in Barnsley Hospice’s annual fundraising initiative, which invites people to dedicate a ribbon for loved ones throughout June and July.

The Mayor was joined by hospice patron Jean Thompson-Banks and fundraising manager Sam Silverwood at the Rainbow of Ribbons launch on 1 June.

The ribbons, donated by Oakwell Flower Corner, will be on display at both the Town Hall and at the Hospice grounds until the end of July. The event is sponsored by Stonehouse Financial Services.

To make a dedication, people are asked to choose their ribbon colour and make a donation towards patient care.
