Naveed joined our Board of Trustees in November 2022.
Naveed is the Principal of Barnsley Academy, where he took up post in September 2020. Prior to this, he lived in London for over five years working as Vice Principal of a secondary school. The school improved from special measures to good within 14 months, one of the fastest-improved schools in the country. In 2019, under Naveed’s leadership of student outcomes, the school achieved the best results in its history.
Naveed has a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. He has always taught in schools in areas of social, economic and educational deprivation across England. He is driven by social justice, improving the life chances of students by providing them with a great education so they achieve the best possible qualifications. He firmly believes in teaching students the importance of showing appreciation and gratitude.
Naveed is committed to the area of Barnsley and wants to build partnerships with the community and is excited about joining the Board of Trustees at Barnsley Hospice.
