As this difficult year comes to a close, Barnsley Hospice would like to invite you to dedicate a light in memory of a loved one, or as a gift in honour of a friend or relative.
Light up a Life is a poignant part of the festive season for so many of our supporters. As in previous years, our Christmas trees in St. Mary’s Church and here at Barnsley Hospice will bear hundreds of twinkling lights,
each one representing the life of someone special. But, sadly this year we are unable to hold our services because of COVID-19 restrictions. Instead we are recording a very special Christmas messages for you to watch at home, which will include the moment that the trees are illuminated. The recordings will be made available online, on Sunday 13th December 2020, and can be watched at any time throughout the festive period.
Supporters can also choose to receive a 'Light up a Life at home' box containing a candle, Christmas tree decoration, badge and card containing the name(s) of loved ones. Watch the lighting of the trees from the comfort of your own home and take a moment to remember someone you love. You can choose to watch a religious or non-religious message.
The dedications for each light will be recorded in the Book of Remembrance, which we hope will be made available for viewing once restrictions are eased. We invite everyone, not just those touched by hospice care, to celebrate the life of loved ones no longer with us by dedicating a light in their memory.
To dedicate a light, please follow the link to our online donation form below - and follow the instructions at the bottom. Alternatively, if you would like a form to be posted out, please contact the Barnsley Hospice Fundraising Team on 01226 323619.
