‚ÄčThe C.O.P.E programme provides practical advice and support in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Companionship – support from hospice staff and fellow patients

Openness – a safe place to discuss your thoughts 

Planning – helping you think and talk about the future

Exercise – helping you stay active


What does C.O.P.E help with?

  • Managing fatigue, breathlessness and other symptoms 
  • Managing uncertainty 
  • Care planning
  • Money matters
  • Complementary therapy sessions
The sessions will be led by a mix of hospice staff including nurses, physiotherapists, social workers and doctors. Light refreshments will be available.

This 8 week programme takes place in the Day Therapy Unit at the Hospice. A separate Carers Group runs at the same time should a friend or relative wish to attend. Please note, help and information on transport can be provided if required.

Who can access C.O.P.E?

Any adult with a progressive, life-limiting illness who is registered with a Barnsley GP. Suitable for people who are independently mobile.

Please speak to your doctor or nurse if you would like to attend and they can make a referral for you.
