TV celebrity beats The Chaser to win £25,000 for hospice

Thursday 24 October
TV presenter Sam Nixon beat The Chaser on Saturday night (19 October) to win a share of £25,000 for the hospice.

Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes, best known as the presenting duo ‘Sam and Mark’ competed on the celebrity version of ITV quiz show The Chase on Saturday night, alongside comedian Jimmy Carr and politician Ann Widdecombe.

The celebrity contestants beat ‘The Vixen’ in a thrilling final to win a share of £100,000 for their chosen charities.

Sam remained true to his Barnsley roots and donated his £25,000 share of the winnings to the hospice. He said: “I’m Barnsley born and bred and still live in Barnsley now, so I wanted to bring the money back to my hometown, and I knew how much Barnsley Hospice would appreciate the donation.”

Jan Walker, Patient Services Director at the hospice, said: “This donation means such a lot to everyone at the hospice and we’d like to thank Sam for his continued support. It will go a long way to helping us continue our care for patients, families and their carers in Barnsley.”
