The hospice is inviting people to dedicate a light in memory of someone special at one of three services.
Light up a Life
is an annual appeal that invites people to celebrate the lives of relatives and friends by dedicating lights in their memory.
Christmas trees will be illuminated during two church services on Sunday 1 December at 3.30pm and 7pm, and there will be a service in the hospice grounds at 7pm on Thursday 5 December.
Each person remembered will be recorded in a special Book of Blessings, and their lights added to the Christmas trees. The book will be displayed over the festive period and the lights will shine until the Twelfth Night.
Julie Ferry, Chief Executive of Barnsley Hospice, said: “Everyone is warmly invited to join us at one of our Light up a Life services which we hope will help provide some much-needed comfort at this most difficult time of the year.”
Last year Light Up a Life raised more than £25,000 with more than 1,000 lights on the Christmas trees. The appeal is sponsored by Booker Commercial.
