Important update - Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Thursday 28 May
Updated 28th May - 12.45pm

We have updated our advice in relation to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We thank you for your understanding at this most difficult time.

Visiting patients in Barnsley Hospice during the COVID-19 pandemic

COVID-19 means that having a loved one who is very poorly or even approaching the end of life, is even more distressing than it might otherwise be.

We are continuing to review how we manage people visiting our patients every day. Please be aware that this guidance may change.

Please contact the hospice on 01226 244244 between 10am and Midday for up to date visiting arrangements.

Information for lymphodema patients

In our ongoing attempt to minimise the risk of spreading coronavirus, and to protect our patients and staff, the Lymphoedema Service has been suspended with immediate effect and until further notice. Current patients due an appointment will be contacted once the service resumes.

We advise you to continue with self management techniques as directed. For further information and resources, please see our Lymphoedema Service page.

Please contact your GP surgery for renewal of current garments as necessary.

Information regarding our Family Team support

During this time of the Covid-19 crisis The Family Team continues to support the families of the patients we have cared for and the ones we are caring for at present.

To make sure we keep people safe we have cancelled all face to face and group support and we are now providing telephone support.

If you would like to speak to us about making a telephone appointment please call 01226 244244 ext. 267, leave a message and a member of the team will contact you to arrange this.

Guidance on visiting our charity shops

In line with Government guidance, we are putting procedures in place to ensure that we can start to reopen our charity shops in June.

  • Only allowing 2 customers into the shop at any one time
  • 2 metre floor markers to help you navigate around the shop
  • All staff will be wearing PPE
  • Cough/sneeze guards will be at the tills to keep everyone safe
We rely on your cooperation to ensure we can work safely, without comprising your experience.
