Updated 31st March - 3.45pm
We have updated our advice in relation to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Our priority is to protect the wellbeing of our staff and patients. We thank you for your understanding at this most difficult time.
In order to minimise the number of people on the premises we have now closed the hospice reception. Our Inpatient Unit remains open and is available for specialist palliative care advice only. All other services are closed.
Information for families
To protect our patients and staff, and in line with new guidance from Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we have made the extremely difficult decision to no longer allow visitors onto our Inpatient Unit.
We will be asking for a designated person from each family to contact the hospice who can then communicate with their family members.
Some exceptions will be made for patients at the very last stages of life or who are deemed very vulnerable - we will allow one family member to stay with them at the hospice, but they will not be permitted to come and go.
We continue to provide exceptional care and support to all of our inpatients throughout these unprecedented times and have made available Skype/Facetime facilities to allow patients to keep in touch with family and friends.
Thank you for your understanding in these challenging times.
Information for lymphodema patients
In our ongoing attempt to minimise the risk of spreading coronavirus, and to protect our patients and staff, the Lymphoedema Service has been suspended with immediate effect and until further notice. Current patients due an appointment will be contacted once the service resumes.
Information for our supporters
Please support our Coronavirus Urgent Appeal.
We advise you to continue with self management techniques as directed. For further information and resources, please see our Lymphoedema Service page.
Please contact your GP surgery for renewal of current garments as necessary.
Your donations, however big or small, will enable us to keep our hospice doors open over the coming weeks and months. All while our incredible Inpatient Unit staff continue to deliver compassionate end-of-life care for our patients.
Our retail shops
Our charity shops and Dodworth Donation Centre are now closed until further notice.
We politely ask that you do not leave any bags of donated items outside our shops during the closure as no one will be there to bring them inside.
Instead please do put aside any of your pre-loved items at home which could be donated to us when our shops are back open again.
We know that many of you will miss visiting our stores and we would like to thank you for your continued support.
