Hospice patient care supported by TSB donation

Patient care at Barnsley Hospice has been given a boost thanks to a donation from TSB Barnsley.

The bank, based on Market Hill in Barnsley town centre, handed over a cheque for £309 raised through Easter and Valentine’s Day themed events, including raffles and lucky number draws.

TSB Barnsley has selected the hospice as its charity of the year and fundraising will continue throughout 2018.

Branch manager Lynn Stephenson is being sponsored to run the Liverpool Rock and Roll marathon on 20 May, after completing the Sheffield half-marathon earlier this month as part of her training.

She said: “This will be my first ever marathon and I am both excited and nervous about the challenge ahead. I have put in the training to date and I just hope I can complete the run to tell the tale!

“Our Local Charity Partnership programme is all about working in partnership to help support the local causes that are the lifeblood of many communities across Britain.

“We’ve really enjoyed supporting Barnsley Hospice as our Local Charity Partner and we’d like to thank our customers for their generosity.”

The donation is the latest show of support for the hospice from TSB Barnsley, who have raised funds in the past.

Simon Atkinson, corporate fundraiser at the hospice, said: “We’re extremely grateful to everyone at TSB Barnsley for everything they are doing to help. This is a great example of the outstanding corporate support we receive from organisations across the town.”
