Barnsley Hospice - Comfort, Care & Dignity

Barnsley Hospice provides care and support for hundreds of local people each year.  Our main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for patients with a life limiting illness, whilst supporting their families, during the period of illness and bereavement.  As a specialist care provider, the range of skills we offer include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and terminal care at the end of life.

The Limes Day Hospice

The Hospice works closely with NHS palliative care providers at Barnsley Hospital and within community services.  These include, Macmillan nurses, district nurses, general practitioners and the hospital nursing and medical teams. In addition, the Hospice links with physiotherapy and occupational therapy, dieticians and the Social Services Department.  This guarantees a comprehensive service to patients and ensures that the care given between home, hospital and the Hospice is as seamless as possible.  Furthermore, the Hospice provides an ‘Out of Hours’ telephone advice line, introduced to further support our hospital and community colleagues.  The relationship between the healthcare providers and Barnsley Hospice is excellent, with the patient always at the forefront of the service.
